Technically speaking, decentralized cloud storage is complicated stuff. We make it easy to access and understand with outstanding design and functionality. Use the terminology below to help communicate who we are and what it is we do.
Tardigrade is a unique cloud storage tool that encrypts customer data, splits files up into fragmented bits, and distributes those bits across storage nodes all over the world. Faster than AWS and a fraction the price, Tardigrade is more secure, private, and performant.
Makers of the Storj Network and Tardigrade Cloud Storage, Storj Labs is building a global network of nodes by renting disk space and bandwidth from Hosts, who operate Storage Nodes all over the world in exchange for STORJ token.
Storage Nodes are hosted by people all over the world to securely store fragmented pieces of encrypted customer data.
Hosts recieve payment in exchange for an allocated portion of disk and bandwidth availability being used by the Storage Node(s) they operate.
Unlike traditional server farms and data centers, a decentralized storage tool isn’t confined to any single physical location. Because of this Tardigrade is inherently more secure and durable than centralized storage solutions like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
Tardigrade encrypts data client-side then splits it into smaller, encrypted pieces to be distributed across the Storj Network of Storage Nodes.
Multi-threaded concurrent downloads of file pieces (much like torrenting) help to make distributed storage faster and more efficient with bandwidth consumption.
All files, by default, are encrypted client-side and the file pieces are spread over a decentralized network. The decentralized architecture means that even if a node goes down, the file pieces can be recovered and reconstituted. Only the customer has access to files because only the customer has the private keys.
